About Julie M. Dobson
Julie lives outside of Toronto, Ontario with her husband Daniel, who is an avid Star Wars Fan; her two step-daughters, who she tries to blame for her grey hair; and their three cats, Lupin, Tonks, and Mara. Julie’s daytime job is working as a library technician at a law library. While it’s a job she enjoys, she would rather be at home writing full time, with a cat in her lap and a cup of coffee by her side.
Like her husband, Julie is a big Star Wars fan, as well as a fan of other movies and TV shows in the science fiction and fantasy genre. They both enjoy going to the movies together, to see their favourite superheroes in action (Julie was team Iron Man, while her husband was team Captain America), and they are both eagerly awaiting the next movie in the Star Wars franchise. Julie and her husband also enjoy touring wine country together; Julie enjoys sampling the wine, while her husband enjoys trying the food and wandering around the picturesque scenery.
Julie is a huge bookworm and has a large collection of books in her office, which is referred to as The Library. She has over 1,200 books in her collection, including eBooks – but has only read half of them. While her reading habits have slowed down, partly because she’s actively working on her next book, Julie still enjoys curling up with a book from her favourite authors. She reads from a variety of genres, which include science fiction, mystery and urban fantasy and likes to concentrate on Canadian Literature.
Since the writing of Lester’s Great Adventure, Julie and her husband adopted a third cat; who loves her new home and big brother, Lupin, who inspired the story for Julie’s first book, Lester’s Great Adventure. Julie is currently working on a follow-up to Lester’s Great Adventure; a story about the new furry addition to the family, as well as a few other writing projects she has on the go including a children’s chapter book, some short stories, and a novel.

I did it! I survived CampNanoWrio – and I met my word count goal of 25, 000 words (wrote 25,384 in total). I managed to reach that goal, bleary-eyed, with frazzled hair at 10:30 pm – nearly the eleventh hour. Now I know how authors feel when the deadline is looming to the final hours, and that word count is crawling to the end goal.
